mathematics:first_second_derivative_tests

This is an old revision of the document!

This is a study sheet I developed two years ago to assist with understanding the first and second derivative tests. It is really just an in depth explanation and graphical portrayal of why those tests assess the behaviors they asses. It is not designed to teach the arithmetic method of building a sign chart, or an interval chart, etc., but rather to demonstrate why those charts mean what they do in terms of the slope's behavior on the original function.
