Proof of the Chain Rule as stated in Finney
This is my reflection on the proof of the chain rule that Finney provides at the back of edition three of his textbook Calculus. I like the formality of the proof, however, it is also the reason I developed An Intuitive Approach to the Chain Rule. That is, it is so formal that the students are like, “great, now what does that mean?” Nevertheless, it is rigorous and deserves posting.
